KEY SCRIPTURE: Job 38:12

Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;

RELEVANCE

Starting from Job 38, God puts Job in his place. This humbling was gentle but a significant lesson, emphasising the importance of humility.

How did God achieve this?

God asked Job some specific questions about wonders that Job had not considered—things God had established in their places and ministries, like waves, stars, the Moon, and the Sun. This was a significant moment for Job to reflect deeply on the majesty of God's creation.

God proceeded to tell Job how and why He created snow, fish, stars, peacocks, etc. Everything God creates has a role to play, even us.

When we consider the dayspring or dawning, what is its role?  The Sun rises over the tree tops of the morning, bringing with it the heat of the day and a transition from darkness to light—an end and a beginning. It brightens the surroundings, triggers nature's responses by melting dew, causing flowers to be open, and delivers the warmth that draws us out of our houses. And it often communicates other signs, such as imminent weather changes.

What it doesn't do is try to imitate the Moon's ministries or the work of the stars or the sea. It works within the bounds of its role, by the commandment of God.

Job was a wise servant of God. In his day, nobody came near him in wisdom, intelligent servitude, and love for the oppressed. Yet in Job 38:2, God asked Job a humbling question: Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

Job knew God's ways but quickly realised they were at a lower level. God swiftly showed him many things that, despite all his knowledge, he hadn't even considered.  We also know many things about God, but we do not understand why he chooses some of us for specific ministries and others for entirely different operations.

He wants us to perform our ministerial duties in the manner they should be done, to look at our roles and see what changes to others' lives we could bring if we did them according to God's commandments. If we all play our roles well and consistently, as the Sun does at dawn and the Moon and stars at night—all ministries working in unison—what blessed changes would come?

Some prominent ministries, like the Sun and Moon, would clash if they tried to work simultaneously, But others, like the flowers and bees with the Sun, work together. They complement each other to complete their God-innovated symphonies. There are no jealousies or infighting; bees don't get irritated at the Sun or the flowers at the bees. They understand the interdependence.

Humans struggle with that. But when we get it right, doesn't life flow wonderfully? Isn't it beautiful when ministries work together in symphony—perfectly synergistic unity?

Nature shows us the way.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for the wonders you created when you made the earth. We can see so many things, but underpinning those are the commands and understanding we do not consider. Please help us today to work with others as you would like, to conduct ourselves according to your will, and to see the breadth of blessing our roles can bring when we do them according to your purpose.
