Samuel, David and Us

But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

This scripture is about David before he was anointed as King.

What did the Lord see? What does he see in you?

David just kept praying, reading, singing and meditating on God’s Word. He kept a valiant outlook, because he had heard about the valiant warriors in the times of Joshua and Judges overcoming giants and great odds to take the Kingdom. Then, one day, preparation met opportunity when he faced Goliath. At that time he had within him the ability and faith to slay a giant of whom everyone else was afraid.

Zechariah 4 says despise not the day of small things. Read your Bible, pray much, think valiantly, muse on the Word, sing songs of faith and trust. Then, who knows!
