I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. - Ephesians 4:3
If we realise God's intention in these last days, we will take to heart what He has been saying to us.
Why has the Lord been baptising His people with the Holy Spirit? What is the purpose? Isn't it to bring them together? Not so much to create a new unity, but to demonstrate the unity in the Body of Christ, because His Word declares, "Endeavouring to keep the Unity of the Spirit IN the bond of peace."
The Lord desires the unity in the Body of Christ to be revealed in the world because this is the way the world is going to believe. The ultimate intention of all God is doing is to bring the companies of His people together, and those within each believing church or company together, to the end that He may be able to accomplish more of His purposes in the latter days upon the earth.
What will make the world believe and turn to the Lord? When they see that God's people love one another; when they see that we love each other.
There are many disappointed people, many downhearted, and many who have gone back from their initial experience with the Lord because of division. They have been disappointed. But what would happen if God were to bring His people together into that unity He desires? Many that are dispirited would lift their heads up again and believe because of the unity that would be amongst His people and shown to the world.
If any people should be one in the spirit it ought to be baptised believers. If any people ought to be together in one gathering and on one platform it ought to be those filled with the Holy Spirit. What is there to separate them, in that God has filled them with the same Spirit into One Body. If God could have His way in each body or company, in each individual, there will be that coming together the Lord speaks about.
Love will break down every barrier and heal the wounds in the Body of Christ. This is a unity of the highest quality, a unity of love, of one heart and one mind. Because unless we have the unity of the Spirit, we can never have the unity of the Faith in the way God desires. When the Holy Spirit has His way, He fills our hearts with love towards each other—IN the Bond of Peace.
Bond in Stongs Concordance G4886 syndesmos: "that which binds together, a band, as in ligaments by which the members of the human body are united together.
Often we forget we are so near and dear to each other, that the bond of peace to which we agree through our blood covenant of Christ is as ligaments uniting the Body. Yet, we have too much of ourselves not given over to God preventing that bond. This creates little peace and therefore little unity. If we can only look beyond the natural, into the realm from which the Lord sees, we would cast down every imagination, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ, so the peace could flow.
Today's prayer: Dear Lord, I know many things that are unified. Please help me to understand and live the humility and meekness and wisdom needed to create such unity.
